Agility

I create resources and write things that I need to learn. I assume “if I need this, I need to share this with others so that we both benefit.” Growing in my faith has been a lifelong process of learning and adapting. Starting. Stopping. Learning. Adapting. As soon as I stop being intentional about developing my faith, I return to patterns and routines that do not serve my best and highest good. One of the thought leaders I turn to for guidance and wisdom is Dr. Pam King from Fuller Seminary’s Thrive Center. I’ve known Dr. King for over two decades (since I was a student at Fuller) and she does an amazing job of integrating spiritual wisdom with psychological science. She recently developed this framework on spiritual agility and I hope you find it as helpful as I do so that we both continue to mature and thrive in our faith practices.

Agility is the capacity to adapt through life’s varying circumstances so that you can grow and thrive.

The “A’s” of Agility is a body-based mindfulness practice that gets us in touch with our emotions and values so that we can live purposefully and with focused intention.

The 5 “A’s” of Spiritual Agility

Attune through your body and emotions.
Aware of the feelings and emotions within you.
Align to pursue values and what matters most.
Active into your purpose.
Assess the day.

In the coming weeks, I will be expanding on each of these “A’s” to help guide us into the next, best season of our lives.

Dig deep…Keep going.
